Christian Dell

Kaiser idell 6580 Super working light, Gebr. Kaiser & Co., Neheim-Hüsten, Germany

Designed 1932-34, presumably made in the 1930s - 1940s

Base, arms and shades are made of black enameled and chrome-plated metal, Swiss plug. Original German plug is available and will be delivered, too.

Christian Dell created this double arm working light. He was a foreman at the Bauhaus metal workshop and head of the metal workshop at the Frankfurt art school Städelschule. Today, the no 6580 super working light is a coveted collector's item.

Cantilever chair Ek10 for Gottwald, Vienna

Designed and manufactured around 1930

Chrome plated tubular steel, plywood seat with red lacquer.

This model by Hynek Gottwald (Czechoslovakia) was also produced by Desta (Germany). The model here is a variant of the famous first semi-spherical chair designed by Hans and Wassily Luckhardt (SS 33, ST 14). Czech producers under license often used own names for their models.

This sideboard belongs to a series of functional furniture named in-kombimöbel, which were advertised in 1933 by Zurich's Wohnbedarf AG for its versatile combinability, construction and durability. Moholy-Nagy invented the name in-kombimöbel. (...) a genuine plywood construction that does not deny itself externally (...), the wood stands in the room as it grows in the forest, and is not covered over with stain or paint, (...) Designed and manufactured presumably in the 1930s

Cantilever chair, nickel-plated tubular steel with adjustable backrest (three positions), black lacquered armrests. Two seat cushions re-upholstered, red imitation leather with black piping.

Large and very rare adjustable armchair. The sweep of the tubular steel frame suggests that it is a design by the well-known Czech architect Ladislav Žák. Construction and materiality suggest an early model from the 1930s.

A piece of Swiss design history. The Quick 1500 table lamp is also known as Swiss Bauhaus lamp because of it's pure and functional design. The Quick 1500 is part of the collections at Museum für Gestaltung Zürich (model produced by Belmag) and Historisches Museum Aargau (model produced by BAG Turgi).

Heart-shaped body, porcelain, white, glazed.

The vase "Heart-Shape" is the result of Trude Petri's research for a vase that combines form and function in an optimal way.
The Hamburg painter, designer and sculptor started working for KPM Berlin in 1929 after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. In 1936 and 1937, she won the gold medal at the Triennale in Milan and the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris for her Urbino dinner service. On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Trude Petri and Siegmund Schütz, an anniversary exhibition was held at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin at the end of 2006. See also www.kpm-berlin.com
